Description
This era of Ridley Excalibur carbon frame was raced by pro continental Team Unibet. Here's a blurb about the bike from the era: "Unibet riders cracked the top 20 in epics such as Flanders and Roubaix, as well as a host of other rough-and-tumble Spring Classics. And inline with their results, Team Unibet knew that the secret of the Excalibur's success was how the geometry of the Excalibur strikes the ideal balance between compliance and rigidity." This is a snappy climber and great descender. Yet I've also ridden on 200+km rides on it. It's 10-speed from various Campagnolo groupsets: Record rear derailleur and brakes, Chorus compact crankset, Centaur levers. Wheels are HED Ardennes, though the rear wheel has a replacement Belgium rim, which was built up by Conrad's. 11-25 cassette. There's a small patch of the original clear coat missing on the top tube which pulled off when I removed a piece of tape with notes on it for a gran fondo (see photo). I've probably ridden it like that for 7 or 8 years.
