Most people on Bike Drawer are fellow cyclists doing an honest deal — a few simple habits keep it that way.

Before you meet

• Keep it local, in person. Real buyers meet you. Anyone who wants to “ship it,” send a courier, or pay extra to take the deal off a face-to-face meetup is running the oldest scam there is — pass.
• A quick gut check. An offer over asking that skips every question about the item, someone rushing to close, or a brand-new empty profile are the usual tells.

Meeting up — buyers

• Meet in public. A café or any busy, easy-to-find spot works well. For a bike, pick somewhere you can take it for a spin.
• Inspect before you pay. Check the item matches the listing and photos; on a bike, look over the frame, drivetrain, and brakes. If the listing shows a serial number, confirm it matches, which helps rule out a stolen bike.

Meeting up — sellers

• Cover the test ride. Before a stranger rides off, hold something of equal value: their ID and phone, or the full cash amount in hand.
• Get paid for real, first. Cash is simplest (give it a count). If you use a payment app, check the money actually landed in your account. A screenshot or “confirmation” email can be faked. Skip checks, wires, and gift cards, and never refund an “overpayment.”

If something’s off

Spot a sketchy or misrepresented listing? Use Report it at the bottom of any listing — a few reports pull it automatically, and we review flags. Since you message sellers directly, you can block anyone in WhatsApp or your email; if a seller’s the problem, report their listing or email us. Tell someone where you’re going, trust your instincts, and take extra care with high-value items. Bike Drawer is a catalog — it doesn’t take payments, ship, verify sellers, or step into disputes. The deal is between you and the other rider.
